Fertility

(Featuring the poetic collective, JANNKK AX)

Limited by
the physics of sunflowers
Eternally we fall
without hope of impact
Leaving behind seeds
In a greenhouse made for memories
to saturate the soil
she was four years old
too young to understand
too old to forget
The roots have lodged deep
But daylight isn’t forever
And even sunflowers set
Limited by
the embrace of air
the night came, ever yet
with shadows from her lungs
And lessons in her blood
The physics of loving someone too fucking much
To love someone is to be inept
Like a seed it grows,
Then is lost; falls to the ground
An emptiness remains, waiting
For the next tenant,
Forever temporary

Freed by
Winter’s lethal whisper
Forgotten by the sun
Remembered by the soil
